Thierry Henry says that Arsenal need to buy a new spine for their team – and that they won’t win a league title with Olivier Giroud up front.
The Highbury legend hit out at the current crop of Arsenal stars after they failed to break down a resilient Chelsea side on Sunday evening, ensuring that Blues kept their lead at the top of the table to 10 points.
But Henry believes that the problems at the Emirates lie deeper than just one or two players, he believes that they need to sign four top quality players in order to challenge for a league title.
The Frenchman has urged his former club to put their hands in their pocket and secure some top players to help them push for a long overdue title.
Speaking as a Sky Sports pundit, he said: “I think they need to buy four players – they need that spine. They need a goalkeeper, they still need a centre back, they still need a holding midfielder and, I’m afraid, they need a top, top quality striker to win this league again.
“You had the best example with Chelsea here today. They were struggling last season to win the league. They went on to buy [Thibaut] Cortouis, [Nemanja] Matic, Cesc [Fabregas] and [Diego] Costa.
“For me, that speaks volumes and you saw it today – a team didn’t and a team did, and they are about to win the league again.
