Kampala. The Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) is today expected to release results for 6,262 candidates who sat their final examinations last year.
The candidates were doing diploma and certificate business courses while others were pursuing technical courses in tropical agriculture, cooperatives, land surveying and land management.
“We briefed the minister [Jessica Alupo] last week and all is set to release the results to the public,” the UBTEB spokesperson, Mr Paul Amoru, said yesterday
Mr Amoru said the board will also release promotional exams for continuing students at 255 accredited centres, which brings the number of candidates awaiting results to 45,064.
UBTEB was introduced a couple of years ago to offer specialised focus on examining applied knowledge that is essential in the job market in the face of soaring unemployment in the country.
This will be the third time the new examining body is releasing technical and business exams after assuming the roles previously handled by Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb).
The release comes days after Uneb released last year’s A-Level national results. About ubtebUBTEB is mandated to streamline, regulate and coordinate exams and awards in all business and technical professions in Uganda. Its operationalisation came after the Business, Technical, Vocational Education and Training Act, was gazetted by government in 2008, through the ministry of Education.
