People with Disabilities (PWDs) now have a chance to showcase their God given abilities in a talent search being organized by Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development and an NGO called Power Talent Search.
The search launched last week will be looking for PWDs who have musical talent throughout the country beginning in April and ending December, 2014.
This is one of the activities scheduled to celebrate world culture day on 21st May 2014.
The line Minister Sulaiman Madada also founder of Madada Foundation said that with this initiative they have decided to uplift PWDs capabilities by recording their music and videos professionally.
Bebe Cool a renowned recording artist extended his support to the initiative by calling upon the PWDs with a voice to use it.
“No matter, what our music will sell, and that will be your way to go as a vulnerable or any person with disability,” he said before calling on government to provide better services to disabled people in public places like public toilets and parking yards.
Madada said PWDS should register with Media houses in their districts to be involved in outreach activities and be trained on how to use assistive and mobile devices.
These will be provided by the National Union of Disabled Persons in Uganda (NUDIPU) so as they can move higher, while emphasizing that disability is not inability.
