Student Drowns

A happy students’ tour of the source of river Nile in Jinja turned ugly on Sunday afternoon, when one of them drowned.

Rogers Koboi, 19, died while on tour with 52 students and teachers of True Vine High School, Tororo. The senior three student drowned as he tried to get a good spot for a photograph.

An eyewitness said the group had visited the Owen Falls dam and other places of interest in Jinja, before tragedy struck. Police divers tried but failed to rescue the boy. The police retrieved the body on Monday morning, before it was handed to the family.
