Start farming to boost low wages, RDC tells police

Apac. Apac Resident District Commissioner Jack Odur has asked police officers to start farming to supplement their meagre monthly salaries. He said this during celebrations to mark 100 years of the Uganda Police Force at Mayor’s Gardens in Apac Town last week.

Mr Odur noted that police has promoted peace in the region but they should take up farming as an initiative to improve their livelihoods and household income.

“We are seeing corruption because majority of police officers cannot sustain themselves on the little salaries they earn every month,” Mr Odur said.

The District police Commander, Mr Titus Byaruhanga, said the police has been characterised by challenges, but added they have made great achievements nevertheless.
