If you think balokole (born-again Christians) only throw their hands in the air when the Holy Spirit has taken over and they are speaking in tongues, you are in for a shock.
Apostles Sarah and John Bunjo, through their Christian Restoration ministries and Abigail Women’s ministry, have organized a corporate dinner and dance, where working-class Christians will get to toss their hands in the air, like they don’t care, after a sumptuous meal.
Sarah Bunjo said the gig, slated for December 4 at the Sheraton Kampala hotel, is a follow-up to another the ministries hosted two years ago for married couples. It is intended for the young believers to ‘de-stress’, network, and discover another dimension to leading a Christian life.
The ladies have been asked to turn up in “hot and spicy” dinner dresses. Hmm. That should make a lovely marinade for the gentlemen’s dinner suits.
Cards are selling at Shs 100,000 and Star Trail hears they are being snapped up fast, going by the success of the marrieds’ dinner dance.
Zari’s white party in balance
Socialite Zari Hussein always throws a party at the end of year dubbed All White Party, where she drowns whoever gets on the invite list with all sorts of liquor.
This year she intends to do the same and the poster is already out for the December 13 do at Guvnor.
However, Star Trail has learnt that everything is not in place. Zari is yet to make a down payment to the club and, besides, she is still in bad books with her fianceacute Ivan Ssemwanga over her affair with Farouk Ssempala and more recently, with Tanzania’s singer Diamond Platinum.
Ssemwanga usually bankrolls these things, and it seems Zari’s toy boys are not quite as generous… Well, Kampala is waiting for that open bar, Zari.
Elly Wamala memorial concert for December
The Elly Wamala All Stars project started earlier this year with Goodlyfe, Bobi Wine, Irene Ntale, Mesach Ssemakula, Chris Evans, Rema, Iryn Namubiru, Wilson Bugembe, Judith Babirye and Ronald Mayinja doing renditions of the late singer’s songs.
Now the family, together with Nile Breweries the title sponsors, and Kibo Media are set to mark a decade since the artiste’s demise in 2004, with a concert slated for December 12 in Serena hotel’s Victoria hall.
Proceeds from the concert will go to expansion of the library at Mugongo Secondary School in Wakiso district, where the late Wamala used to stay. Tickets for the concert go for Shs 100,000 while a table will cost Shs 2m.
Amooti’s wife quits marital home
Last week Amarula Family boss Amooti decided to have a night out in Club Amnesia when the club was having its Naughty Girls, read strippers.
Amooti got so excited by one of the girls, whose outfit left nothing to imagination. The comedian grabbed the girl, fondling her and even dry-humping her on the floor.
What the club management forgot was to tell the audience to put their phones away as all this was happening, people were snapping away on their smart phones and within minutes the pictures were on social media.
When Amooti’s wife got wind of his shenanigans, they didn’t go down well with her. Star Trail has reliably learnt that over the weekend she packed her bags and left.
Amooti, that joke was not funny!
Mwenda’s Audi Q7 smashed
Veteran journalist and CEO of The Independent news magazine, Andrew Mwenda, is sad and blue after a truck rammed into his parked car – an Audi Q7 – on Monday.
The car was parked at the company office along Kanjokya street, in Kamwokya.
Luckily, he was not in the car but he will have to fork out millions to get it back on the road.
