Soldiers Remanded

In a bid to get President Museveni to help him regain Kampala University’s Luweero campus, District Chairman Abdul Nadduli reportedly hired soldiers to raid the institution controlled by former partner Prof Badru Kateregga.

The soldiers, however, are now behind bars, after they were remanded over the raid on Monday. The soldiers face different charges, including assault, and stealing the guns they used in the raid.

They are sergeants Sulaiman Sewamala, 36, and Sam Kirumira, 40, and privates Geofrey Mulumba, 40 Mohammed Musiitwa, 40 and John Sebuuma, 25. They are attached to the reserve force at Kawempe.

Sources said Nadduli revealed the aim of the raid during a crisis security meeting attended by Luweero Resident District Commissioner Henry Kamya Makumbi, and District Police Commander Godfrey Ninsiima, among others.
