Shs600m NUSAF II funds in Moyo remain unused

Moyo. Moyo District administration has started an operation that will compel contractors of unfinished projects under NUSAF II to complete them before the end of this month.

During the operation, community project management committee members are expected to account for unutilised funds.More than Shs600 million, which was disbursed for various community project management committees during the third quarter in April, continues to remain unused.

The unspent money was sent to the district for the construction of classroom blocks along with construction of staff houses for teachers and health workers. Several chairpersons of community project management committees have recorded statements with police for failing to monitor their respective projects.

Several contractors have reportedly resumed their work.Mr Geofery Vuciri, the NUSAF II desk officer for Moyo District said the district will not receive the last disbursement of the funds if contractors fail to complete their work and leaders of the projects fail to account for the money received.

He threatened to ‘name and shame contractors and project monitors who have failed to account for the money.
