Masaka- Rally driver Ponsiano Lwakataka’s bail application at the High Court in Masaka flopped due the absence of the judge. Justice Kibuuka Musoke was said to be unwell and unable to hear the bail application.
Mr Lwakataka (in picture) is accused together with some other people of murdering nine people in cold blood inside a house at Kyebe in Rakai District on January 14, 2013.
He was arrested by police in connection with the crime on August 10, and has been on remand following his appearance before Masaka Grade One Magistrate Hood Matovu who said his case was of grave nature and could only be tried by the High Court.
Relatives of the murdered people petitioned court to have him prosecuted for murder.
Lwakataka, 38, a resident of Ggwanda, Kyebe Sub-county in Rakai District, will remain on remand until the judge can hear his bail application and a date is expected to be set.
