So far at eight successful events, Qwela band has teamed up with other artistes to have fans get a different feel of their music.
The idea was simple have a series of collaborative concerts featuring artistes of a specific genre on the same stage to give the audience a unique high-quality live musical showcase.
And they are back, this time with what they have called the Guitar Maestros Season II. Lined up to perform are Myko Ouma, Kaz Kasozi, Charmant Mushaga, and Ian Businge, with Maurice Kirya as the guest artiste. All this will be happening next Sunday at Kampala Serena hotel’s Victoria hall.
This episode will feature the diversity of four awesome guitarists: Mushaga, an electric guitarist with his Afrojazz approach Ouma, a renowned guitarist in jazz and contemporary world music Businge, an edgy, rock and blues guitarist Kasozi, an accomplished guitarist and recording artiste with a UK-based career spanning more than 15 years.
Qwela band will be backing them. There will be something different, Kirya says.
“We are going to have collaborative songs being mixed with each other in different touches, to give the audience a multi-flavoured Afrofusion treat from blues, rock, jazz, to Lingala and kadongo kamu,” he said.
The event is intended to be quarterly after Kirya, Isaiah Katumwa is lined up.
