At the helm of last month, East Africa’s number one tennis player Duncan Mugabe with the backing of the Uganda Lawn Tennis Association (ULTA), kicked off a campaign to raise funds to facilitate his upcoming international engagements. A fortnight into the campaign, Mugabe has been pleased by the support that has poured in for his cause.
“A good number of people are responding to my request for sponsorship and I am grateful,” Mugabe said yesterday.
Mugabe is also confident of defending all his three titles when he kick starts his East Africa tour where he will take part in the Kenya Open, Tanzania Open and Congo Open. “I have prepared well am sure by the end of the tour I will have retained all the three title.”
After the East Africa tour, Mugabe will head back home to play in the Uganda Open before crossing over to Rwanda for the Rwanda Open.
He also plans of competing in Europe after the East African tour.“I am targeting some events in Europe probably Turkey where I have been invited,” Mugabe, who has played tennis since he was eight years -old and has represented Uganda on various local and international events, said.
