A total of 24 suspects have been arrested and detained by police in Agago District following a Monday evening land conflict.
Those arrested were mostly from Patongo Sub-county and are suspected to have orchestrated the attacks over a disputed 10,000-hectare piece of land they claim belongs to them.
According to the Officer in Charge of Patongo Central Police Station, ASP Albert Onyango, the police, together with UPDF soldiers, mounted a joint operation on Wednesday morning and arrested those suspected to have participated in the attack.
“We are holding 24 suspects at Patongo Police Station whom we are interrogating at the moment,” he added.
Mr Onyango said security personnel comprising of both the army and police have been deployed around the disputed land.
Daily Monitor reported yesterday that a four-year-old boy dead and 13 people injured. More than 60 grass-thatched huts were also razed down in the attack leaving properties worth millions of shillings destroyed when locals at Aciki village, Ogong parish, Kotomor Sub-county were attacked by res dents of Lukwangole parish, Patongo Sub-county in Agago District.
