Police arrest woman over husband’s death

Tororo- Police in Tororo are holding a woman in connection with the mysterious death of her husband at their residence in Central village in Tororo municipality.

The suspect aged 24 years was arrested on Wednesday after she went to police to report the death of her husband Chales Clare, 56, a Belgian national.

The police spokesperson for Bukedi region, Mr Michael Odongo, said the suspect was detained for interrogations, adding it is suspected that Clare’s death occurred some days back but the suspect had kept the body until it started decomposing.

Detained
“We are detaining the suspect as investigations continue. We are likely to charge her with murder after completion of the investigations,” he said.
He said the body has been taken to Mulago hospital for medical examinations to establish the cause of the death.

Police said it is highly suspected that the suspect poisoned her husband over a long-standing disagreement.

According to neighbours, the two have been living a discrete life but would often develop arguments, which would at times end up in fights.
However, police said they would not rush to conclude on the cause of the man’s death until when investigations are completed.

A team of officers have been dispatched to investigate the matter as police hunts for any possible suspects still at large.
