Police accused of case cover-up

Bushenyi- A Mobile Money business agent in Ishaka-Bushenyi Municipality has accused the police of mishandling investigations in a case in which his employee was robbed of Shs4 million last month.

Mr David Nuwahereza, the proprietor of NUDA Global Services Ltd, said on August 31, his employee, Mr Allan Agaba, was robbed of Shs4m early morning after he had opened the shop.

The robber reportedly grabbed the money which he had placed on the table as he opened the drawer.

The matter was reported to Ishaka Police Station and recorded as CRB 3802014.

Mr Nuwahereza said the suspected robber was later arrested in Mbarara and transferred to Ishaka Police Station. While he had allegedly accepted to pay back the money, Mr Nuwahereza says he was released by police before an out-of-court settlement could be made.

Mr Nuwahereza said on September 11 he also wrote to the Southwestern Region CIID, asking to him to intervene, alleging that his case was mishandled by Ishaka officers.

When contacted, Bushenyi OC CIID Peter Tindyebwa acknowledged Mr Nuwahereza’s complaint to his office. “We have everything and we identified some minor issues which we are rectifying,” he said.
