New Drivers’ Boss Warms Up to KCCA

The newly-elected chairperson of Uganda Transport Development Association (Utrada), Mustafa Mayambala, says his first assignments include creating harmony between Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and taxi operators.

Shortly after emerging victorious in a controversial election, Mayambala said, “We should see how we help our drivers and conductors who are mistreated by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).”

Mayambala, a 20-year-taxi-business veteran who operates from Nateete stage, beat William Katumba in the hotly-contested November 10 election. The vice-chairperson is Carlton Sekyaye Serumaga, secretary general is Patrick Mukalazi, and treasurer is Fred Kamya.

Due to time constraints, some of the posts such as mobiliser, health and security, welfare, undersecretary, defence, and public relations, were not filled.
