New Bar Pays Homage to Mandela

Najjeera, a Kampala suburb, last Friday got a new hangout place in the name of Madiba’s bar and restaurant.

The bar located on Najjeera-Kiwatule road pays homage to former South African leader Nelson Mandela. It is owned by journalists Henry Ssali and Darius Mugisha, who are the owners of Asylum bar in Kireka.

Despite of a heavy downpour, Madiba’s bar had a full house, among which were celebrities like Judith Heard, Joel Sebunjo and Joseph Masembe.

MC Kats was the MC of the night and there was entertainment from rapper Mun G.

Mugisha says that they choose Najjeera because it is a blossoming suburb with many corporates who need a nice place to hang out from within their area.

The bar is set to come up with theme nights to suit the different clients, but the prices of the drinks are already attractive. A beer costs Shs 4,000 while a soda is sold at Shs 2,000.

The bar painted in red and yellow has two sections – with one at the back of the building that serves better as a hideout.
