Ntenjeru police in Mukono South is holding a 37-year old businessman of Ntenjeru town and proprietor of Maliirwe Pure Juice factory for securing an abortion for a 16-year-old student of Kojja Secondary School. The officer in charge of criminal investigations at Ntenjeru Asuman Watongola confirmed the arrest.
Watongola who refused to reveal more details for fear of jeopardising investigations, said the suspect will be taken to court when investigations are complete.
According to the girl’s uncle Falasiko Ssalongo Nsubuga of Bulikasa village, the suspect, said to be an HIV carrier, is on record for defiling young girls with the intention of spreading the virus.
“He lures them with juice from his factory and money, and has slept with over seven
known young girls, and later bribing their parents with money to discard the matters”, a visibly angry Nsubuga said.
Another resident, identified as Dan Were said the suspect is known to have fathered several children with under age girls and successfully survived arrest after settling matters with their parents.
Ntenjeru LC 3 chairperson Vivian Mulindwa blamed parents who she said fail to counsel their adolescent girls on lustful men.
She also confirmed the suspect’s actions, and expressed concern that many children in the area have been lured into sex by men suspected to have HIVAids.
” This case is not an isolated one. We have many parents who, possibly due to poverty, have accepted to settle such cases out of court even with the full knowledge that the men sleeping with their children are sick “, Mulindwa said.
Asked to comment, the suspect admitted being in love with the under age student but
denied being involved in sexual encounters with other underage girls as alleged by neighbours.
He claimed that he was being framed by his enemies.
“People are jealous of my financial success and are out to destroy me through such concocted stories. I admit I have been in love with this one and I assisted in securing the abortion, but I have not slept with others as alleged”, He said.
He also blamed his woes on certain politicians with whom he said he had land ownership wrangles. According to him, the politicians whom he decline to name, have been concocting stories against him to drain his pocket and in effect force him to opt for a settlement with them.
