MPs travel woes

In Parliament, Defence and Internal Affairs Committee members are not happy. Last week, they took to questioning the recent behaviour of their chairperson, Ms Benigna Mukiibi Mugwanya (Mubende Woman). The chairperson usually determines and recommends who goes for parliamentary oversight trips abroad.
The Defence committee is one of the few House agencies which runs a huge budget. Several MPs on the committee have taken to wondering, why each time trips come up the chairperson travels with Luuka County MP Milton Muwuma. If three MPs are invited, it will be her, Mr Muwuma and her deputy Peter Eriaku (Kapelebyong). “We would have no problem with their frequent trips but they don’t come back to brief Parliament of what their trips were all about,” said one source.
Another source cited a recent trip to Addis Ababa and another to Geneva. Members are reportedly still waiting to either be briefed or to receive a report about those trips.
