MP apologises over poor service delivery

stronOtuke- stronOtuke District Woman MP surprised voters when she knelt down before voters to apologise for unsatisfactory service delivery in her constituency and pleaded for forgiveness.

Ms Annet Nyakecho Okwenye stunned the voters in a dramatic style before a crowd of more than 200 people at Aliwang Catholic Mission on Thursday. “I may have not performed to your expectation and as a human being, I have to ask from you where I have gone wrong to forgive me,” she pleaded.

The legislator picked a piece of cloth from her bag, spread it down and knelt on it before the electorate, who included religious leaders from the Christian and Islamic faiths. The group had gathered to receive bicycles donated to them by the MP.

Ms Nyakecho said she knelt down before the electorates because she thought that was the right divine moment to talk to God and ask Him to forgive her through His servants.

“I thought it was the right day for us to reconcile with the people of Otuke and also with God. And I asked them to forgive me and they also asked me to forgive them where they have hurt me. So I think we are back to working together,” the legislator said. Ms Sylvia Awili, a resident of Okere Momkok village, said: “I was so moved when I saw her kneeling down before us.”

After the drama, the MP gave out 105 bicycles to local leaders and religious leaders to help them mobilise and sensitise others on issues affecting them.
