Moroto woman boils child to death

Residents of Nakapelimen village, South division Moroto district were left in shock after police recovered a blistered body of an unidentified baby in a saucepan.
Police suspect the baby might have been boiled to death by its mother whose identity and where about still remains unknown.
Following the incident, police have opened up investigations by dispatching a team of its intelligence to hunt for the parents of the baby.
Mr John Omwony, the in-charge of crime desk at Moroto central Police station confirmed the incident and said the police was on the ground looking for the mother.
“The Police officers who visited the scene found the baby with blisters, an indication that was immersed in boiling water,” he said.

Mr Omwony further said that the post mortem report from Moroto Referral Hospital specified that the child suffered severe burns to the whole body, thus causing death.
Mr Alex Lemu the mayor of Moroto municipality said the incident is the first of its kind in the area.
Mr Lemu urged women to always take good care of their babies because they are gifts from God, adding that it is a curse for someone to kill an innocent child.
Mr Moses Lokoroi Ssuubi, the Senior Probation officer Moroto district also aised parents to take the responsibility of looking after their children since they are duty bound to do so.
