Monitor appoints journalism professor as executive editor

The Monitor Publications Ltd has appointed Mr Malcom Gibson, an experienced editor and journalism professor from the United States of America, as its executive editor. Managing Director Alex Asiimwe yesterday said the appointment of Mr Gibson was in line with the newspaper’s desire to raise journalism standards to the highest levels.

“As we have said before, we believe in quality journalism and we shall go to great lengths to deliver it. The appointment of Mr Gibson, who comes in with lots of experience, is a testament to our commitment to this cause,” Mr Asiimwe said.

Mr Gibson’s appointment took effect March 2014, and he will be in charge of all the editorial content platforms at Monitor Publications Ltd. Mr Gibson has been a reporter, senior editor and news executive at the New York Times company and also a professor of journalism at the University of Kansas.
