The Mirinda Miss Teen team kicked off the clusters’ searches last weekend with over 10 schools converging at Wanyange Girls School in Jinja for the Eastern Cluster.
The judges picked Samantha Akello from the host school as winner. She, alongside Brenda Angambire (St Noa Mawagali) and Peace Aslianzo (Oxford High School) will be representing the Eastern Cluster in the Miss Teen Star category. Vivian Naiga, Victoria Nalukenge and Viola Babirye who won the Miss Brainy, Miss Fashionista and Miss Entrepreneur respectively will represent in those categories.
Tomorrow, attention shifts to western Uganda. Eden International School in Mbarara will play host to over 20 schools from the region. Last year, Plus Two High School in Bushenyi played host but it seemed like the judges were not prepared for such a large numbers, since it was the first time the cluster system was done.
The event seemed to drag and the judges’ choice of questions for the Miss Brainy category was overly recycled. Following the success of the Eastern cluster this year, there is no doubt that even the western one will flow smoothly. Another brilliant addition to the team of judges this year is Kenneth Katuramu, also known as KK. His wit and connection to the teenagers brings some oomph into the event.
Bweranyangi Girls, Kashaka Girls, Ruyonza SS, Plus Two High, St Agnes SS and Kinoni Girls are some of the schools that have confirmed attendance. Others include Global High School, Booma International and Mbarara Girls SS. The action starts at 10am. Swangz Avenue’s Irene Ntale and Mun G, the CEO Kuntakinte Records, have been lined up to entertain the teenagers.
