After the successful rollout of the Mirinda Comedy Tour last year, the sponsors of the tour and organisers have promised a bigger and better tour this year. According to Jonathan Kyeyo, the manager of Laftaz Lounge – the co-organisers of the tours – the tour starts April 25 with two shows in Mbarara. In the subsequent months, the tour will head to Jinja, Fort Portal, Arua, Busia and Kampala.
Kyeyo also confirmed that Mirinda will be sponsoring the One-Mic, One Man show by comedian Patrick Idringi, aka Salvador, in June at Serena hotel, as well as the Churchill Live show in Kampala in September.
Innocent Tibayeita, the head of marketing at Crown Beverages Limited, says, “We have a proven track record of supporting talent and keeping our consumers entertained after a hard day’s work. We felt the time was right to take Uganda’s comedy credentials to another level and tie it in with Mirinda’s free-your-fun-side theme.”
Crown Beverages Limited has tapped very talented individuals, both established and up-and-coming, who fit the philosophy, to create a spectrum of original content that many of the comedy consumers have been yearning to have for years. Last year, the tour featured Kenyan comedians Eric and Phillip Omondi.
