Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) will be seeking to end Makerere University Business School (Mubs)’s unbeaten run in the Nile Special University Football League when the two sides meet on tomorrow in Mbarara.
In the new round-robin format of the tournament, Mubs only needs two wins to seal their quarterfinal place while MUST are languishing at the bottom of the five-team group. Therefore, Mubs cannot afford to drop points against a team that is yet to trouble their defence.
Last season, Mubs won this fixture 4-0 and went a notch higher in Kampala by thrashing the Mbarara-based side 6-0. Nonetheless, it will be dangerous for Mubs to underrate their opponents, especially when they are struggling to find the net this season. Shaban Omara, Mubs’ top marksman last season, is yet to score.
And though it might appear MUST will simply play for pride, their coach Salim Twaha is eager to throw a spanner in the works to avenge last season’s thrashings.
“I’ve polished the striking and midfield departments to secure that much-desired sweet revenge.”
All this points to a competitive game on the cards in Mbarara.
