Former prime minister Amama Mbabazi yesterday skipped an NRM parliamentary caucus meeting called to discuss the party primaries ahead of 2016 general elections.
While Mr Mbabazi’s whereabouts were not clear by press time, MPs who attended the meeting told Daily Monitor that the meeting discussed the report by Wakiso Woman MP, Ms Rosemary Seninde, on the mess in the previous party primaries.
The NRM law makers, who did not attend the caucus meeting, yesterday talked of a growing rift within the ruling party, a claim the party leaders dismissed as “hearsay”.
By press time, it was not clear whether the caucus members discussed Mr Mbabazi’s fate as the secretary general of the ruling party after some members of CEC demanded that he resigns on account of what they called “the poor working relationship” with President Museveni, the party chairman.
Mr Mbabazi was sacked on September 18 as premier but he remains NRM party secretary general.
