Maxime set for first mission as team captain

Maxime van Pee will captain Team Uganda for the first time as they take on regional rivals Kenya during the first leg of the Mountain Dew East and Central MX Championship next Sunday.

The event, which also counts towards the third round of the National Championship, will be staged at Garuga Race Track.
Unlike in the past years, when the championship had three legs, this time round there are only two. The second leg will be in Nairobi in December and Van Pee is looking forward to the challenge at Garuga.

“ This will be my first test as a captain. I am more than ready so are the rest of the team members,” Maxime, the reigning MX1 national champion, said during the launch of the event at Speedway Garage yesterday.

“Since the year started, we have had two competitive rounds. We also had training with Jurgen Kuppers (German trainer), which has improved the team tremendously.”
Earlier, Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) president, William Blick, confirmed that 17 Kenyan riders have confirmed their participation.

Block is also a Trustee and founding member of Speedway Motorsports Club. Vivo Energy, under their brand Shell Aance, ICEA, IAA HealthResolution Health, Safe Solutions and Fotogenix are the other sponsors.
