Mavuno Yetu to Bring Out East Africa’s Best

Imagine a cocktail of cultures food, languages, music and fashion in one place.

Well, that is exactly what will be happening at the Lake Victoria Serena Resort hotel, Entebbe road, as the Mavuno Yetu festival makes a comeback. Mavuno Yetu hosts hundreds of guests each year to the best of East African music, cultural performances, fashion shows and beauty queens from the region.

This year, the festival will ride on the music touch of Afrigo band and the Crane Performers. Then later on, the much-talked-about ‘Beauty with a purpose’ will come to life as beauty queens from Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania and Burundi join their Ugandan counterpart to promote fashion, food, music, drinks and the general culture of the East African region.

They will work hand-in-hand with chefs from participating countries to prepare the signature dishes of their respective countries. According to the organisers, the cultural gala will also feature a fashion showcase by Santa Anzo of Arapapa and Kenya’s Jamil Walji.

Mavuno yetu means ‘Our harvest’ in Kiswahili, and denotes the celebration of our cultures in the region. This is the third time the festival is being held.
