Man cuts wife to death after a domestic brawl

Police in Agago district are holding a man on allegations that he chopped his wife into pieces after a domestic dispute.

The deceased identified as Magaret Lalam, met her fate at about 11:00pm in the night last week at her marital home in Patongo village.

The suspect reportedly came back home in the night drunk and found his wife had shifted from their marital bedroom to the kitchen where she was sleeping.

The couple reportedly started quarreling before the enraged suspect picked a panga which he used to cut his wife into pieces.

After committing the crime, the suspect handed himself over to Patongo Police post.

Aswa Regional Police Spokesperson Mr Jimmy Patrick Okema, confirmed the incident adding that the suspect is still in Police custody pending investigation into the case.

“His file is still pending. We are yet to conclude investigations into the case after which the suspect will be committed to the courts of law to answer charges of murder,” says Mr Okema who added, “We condemn such kind of brutality we are discouraging too much drinking by men which is becoming the major cause of domestic violence in most homes.
