After missing the Saturday Club Mega Fest because of a delay, many thought Mafikizolo would not be able to make it to Serena hotel on Sunday.
MTN Uganda had organized a VIP experience for those that could not catch the South African duo in action at Namboole the previous day. For Shs 100,000 a ticket, many wanted to watch them. Silk Events was in charge of the production from the stage all the way to the artistes.
The full house got value for their money. Capital FM’s Gaetano Kaggwa was the man in charge of the ceremony and he kept his humour smart and sleek. The South African group originally consisted of three members Theo Kgosinkwe, Nhlanhla Nciza and Tebogo Madingoane (who died in a road rage shooting in 2004).
At the Serena, the duo went into the thick of things, not keeping the fans waiting. Having the band play Lion King as the theme songs. They had dancers performing off the Kona album. This had the crowd on its feet. All the time they paused to talk about their songs and what inspired them.
When it came to my favourite, Ndihamba Nawe, I don’t know the words to best describe it but they performed it to the fullest. The dance, the vocals a true VIP experience.
