King Oyo starts fasting over kingdom split

KAMPALA

A woman has sued Rubaga Hospital over alleged negligence, claiming doctors at the facility left a gauze inside her after conducting a caesarean section operation on her in 2011.

Ms Goretti Kabuo, a DR Congo national, filed the suit at the High Court in Kampala through her attorney, MS Jan Consult on July 10. She is seeking Shs40 million as general damages for the hospital’s alleged negligence and unprofessional.

The operation
Court records show that she delivered a healthy baby by caesarean section but the doctors allegedly left gauze in her body.

Ms Kabuo states that she later started feeling pain but her complaints were ignored by health workers at Rubaga Hospital. Ms Kabuo said she was later referred to Kibuli Muslim Hospital where gauze was removed from her stomach.

Court has subsequently summoned the hospital to file in its defence within 15 days.
When this newspaper contacted Ms Joan Twizere, the hospitals public relations officer, said the hospital was willing to compensate Ms Kabuo but was unable to contact her since she now lives in the US.
