KCC FC can move within a point of Fufa Super League (FSL) leaders Vipers if they defeat Simba in Bombo tomorrow afternoon.
With three games in hand, George Nsimbe’s charges will be backed by travelling fans when they continue their title defence push. On Friday, KCC defeated Masaka LC 1-0 while Simba were beaten 0-1 by SC Villa.
Despite the aantage, Nsimbe is taking nothing for granted ahead of the clash with nine remaining games.
“The issue right now is of trying to win the league but we are taking every game one by one,” he says. “Our players were downcast when we got eliminated from Caf Champions’ but we have a chance to salvage some pride if we retain the title.
But it is not something we should be focusing on right now because Simba is a tough side. Interestingly, Simba is just one of four teams to inflict defeat on KCC but the hosts will be without coach Fred Kajoba on bench after he was suspended for improper conduct during the Express game two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Masaka LC will host Police on Tuesday in a replay of their abandoned game in Masaka recreation ground. Masaka are fighting relegation but they are yet to win any game in the second round.
Tenth-placed Bright Stars will host Proline at Nakivubo in a match the latter badly needs to win to improve their survival chances. Proline sit fourteenth position, just two points ahead of bottom-placed CRO.
