Kampala, Wakiso to Get Mosquito Nets

After 106 districts got mosquito nets, Wakiso and Kampala are up next, the state minister for Primary Health Care, Sarah Opendi, announced last week.

Opendi told journalists on Friday that the two cosmopolitan areas were initially skipped to allow ministry officials design a well-thought-out strategy of addressing challenges associated with urban areas. She called for people’s cooperation.

“We are appealing to all members of Kampala and Wakiso to register for these mosquito nets and once you don’t register, then it implies you do not need the net,” she said.

July 26 and 27 have been set for registration while distribution will only take place on August 16 and 17. Minister Opendi warned against misuse of the nets. The two districts have an estimated 3.2 million people. Over 20 million mosquito nets have so far been distributed in 106 districts.
