Ugandan former world title challenger Justin ‘The Ugandan Destroyer’ Juuko is backing boxing superstar Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao to avenge his controversial loss to Timothy Bradley when the pair meets next weekend for the WBO welterweight title.
Juuko was in the Wild Card gym in Hollywood, California last Friday to boost the Pacquiao’s morale before the much anticipated April 13 showdown. Bradley scored a split decision victory over Pacman in their first bout on June 9, 2012.
‘He [Pacquiao] looks great and ready to disapprove doubters,” says Juuko. “I have no doubt he will walk away with the WBO belt.”
At the peak of his professional boxing career in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Juuko shared same promoter with Pacquiao – American Bob Arum. Juuko has fond memories of working with the Philippine superstar.
“We actually sparred over 50 rounds together during my heydays and we are old friends,” the retired Ugandan fighter remarks.
However, the two pals’ careers have since taken different paths with Juuko concentrating on promotions while Pacquiao continues the battle to prolong his stay in the ring.
Pacman’s career has been subject of big debate in the pound-for-pound boxing fraternity ever since the loss Bradley followed by a devastating sixth round knockout at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez six months later.
