IGG keeps probe waiting over allegations of nepotism at NSSF

A five-member Select Committee named by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga to investigate allegations of nepotism and unfair recruitment at NSSF illegal purchase of Umeme shares irregular disposal of the NSSF assets and any other matter related to the mismanagement concluded last week without summoning the Inspector General of Government, Ms Irene Mulyagonja.
The committee leadership attempted to summon Ms Mulyagonja over allegations that her daughter, Elizabeth Nabakooza, improperly got a job at NSSF. (The NSSF management has since explained that the IGG’s daughter was only given a temporary job and that all the procedures were followed.) But when MPs tried to summon the IGG, the Judiciary complained and they dropped the plan. They later decided to write to the IGG to respond in writing. The committee is still waiting for the IGG’s response.
