Kibaale- Government has laid down strategies to heavily invest in security so that the country realises total stability, the minister of Internal Affairs has said.
Gen Aronda Nyakairima told a gathering of Kibaale District leaders early this week that the government has structures that can easily defeat any groups intending to create chaos in the country.
“Uganda has for the last 30 years been grappling with rebels and insurgencies. We have cornered and defeated them,” Gen Nyakairima told leaders at the closure of a peace dialogue in Kibaale Town.
“Militarily or politically, our (government) teeth are out and ready to bite those intending to destabilise the country because we are now committed to development,” he added.
The former army commander also challenged leaders to consolidate the prevailing peace. He also aised civil society organisations to actively compliment government “than promoting a blame game which affects the people not to innovate, create and harness opportunities.”
However, Kibaale leaders aised the government to be transparent on oil and gas issues to prevent the natural resource from being a source of instability.
Gen Nyakairima said all policies and laws are passed with and local people in areas where oil and gas was discovered.
