Government of Asked to Release Detained Commander

The head of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) sent a letter to the Ugandan president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to release detained army commander to support his bid for the 2016 presidential election.

Maj DF Kiweru, a 42 year old was a member of AMISOM trainers in Mogadishu and he was detained in 2013. Kiweru and another commander Hassan Watimba 43 were accused of recruiting 19 civilians who were underage. The two officials denied the accusation. The commander requested President Museveni to release the member of AMISOM for the benefit of the operation of AMISOM inside Somalia.
