Giving police money is not bribery – RDC

MBARARA: Mbarara Resident District Commissioner Nickson Kabuye has asked residents to cooperate with police while investigating crimes that require a lot of resources, which the Force might not readily have.
Speaking at the decorating ceremony of 61 officers from Rwizi region, Mr Kabuye said the public should understand that police may not have adequate resources to execute certain tasks.
“Investigating some cases requires a lot. At certain occasions, it is difficult for the district police commander to provide fuel due to poor facilitation. Do not misinterpret their requests to be asking for bribes,” Mr Kabuye said.
President Museveni recently promoted more than 3,000 police officers at the climax of celebrations to mark 100 years of the force.
The promoted officers from Rwizi region include Mr Geoffrey Makyeme the deputy regional police commander and Mr Patrick Mungasi, the regional traffic officer. The regional police commander, Mr Hilary Kulayigye warned officers against corruption, saying those involved will not last long.
