The Chief Magistrates Court in Luwero has granted bail to the Luwero District Woman Member of Parliament, Ms Brenda Nabukenya in a case in which she was charged for allegedly interfering with electioneering activities in the recent by-elections.
Ms Nabukenya who appeared in Court on Monday with two of his co-accused denied the charges before court presided over by Chief Magistrate, Ms Sylvia Nabagala. Nabukenya was jointly charged with Mr Richard Katabira from Mabuye village, Kamira Subcounty and Mr Julius Mayega, a resident of Kyakula village in Kamira Subcounty.
Prosecution led by state attorney, Mr Richard Birivumbuka alleges that Ms Nabukenya while on her campaign trail as a candidate for the District Woman MP seat on May 15th at Kabunyata village in Kamira Subcounty was involved in acts of abduction and assault when she incited her supporters to beat and abduct Mr Patrick Mwesigye, Mr Stephen Ssentumbwe and Mr Robert Ssepuya.
Nabukenya was granted bail after presenting two substantial sureties and the case adjourned to August 11th for hearing.
