Ecobank launches campaign to fight malaria

Ecobank Uganda on Saturday last week launched a campaign to help in the control and prevention of malaria in Uganda.

The bank through its staff pitched camp at different medical and social facilities in Kampala, Mukono, Mbarara and Jinja where they distributed items to help in the fight against Malaria.

Ecobank staff in Kampala visited Mulago children’s ward where they distributed 50 mosquito nets and also handed over a cheque worth shs1.5m to support the ward through the purchase medicine and specialized equipment required in the treatment of malaria.

Elsewhere, in the different districts where the bank has branches, staff visited St Francis Healthcare services in Jinja and gave out 50 mama kits to help mothers deliver safely, 50 mosquito nets and 40 blankets.

The staff in Mbarara also donated mosquito nets, blankets and other basic items to the children of Devine mercy babies home while those in Mukono also issued mosquito nets to the public at YMCA teachers and commercial college.

This was through the banks CSR activities activated to commemorate the Eco bank day under theme “Malaria prevention and control”.

Mr Micheal Monari, the Eco bank managing Director commended efforts by the bank staff in playing a part in the “noble cause” also stating that such efforts will help combat Malaria.

“Every year, Ecobank staffs spend a day giving back to our community. This year supported malaria prevention. We believe that malaria can be defeated with deliberate concerted efforts such as these.” Mr Monari said.

Ecobank Uganda Limited commenced business in 2009 as a fully owned subsidiary of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) with several branches in Kampala and has managed to stretch to Jinja, Mbarara and Mukono
