DP Wins MUBS Polls

Patrick Don Bugingo is the new guild president at the Nakawa-based Makerere University Business School after winning a rerun of the elections last Thursday.

The election result followed a controversial April 10 poll that was nullified after ballot stuffing allegations.

The second-year student of Marketing and members of the democratic party (DP) polled 2,707, beating his closest rival, Victor Birungi, an independent candidate with a margin of 1,700 votes. Birungi garnered 982 votes.

NRM-leaning candidate Evelyn Aijuka, who had won the April 10 poll, got 334 votes to finish third, while FDC’s Mariam Nakigudde trailed with 70 votes. A former head prefect at St Mary’s College Kisubi, Bugingo takes over from FDC’s Yoram Banyenzaki.
