DP MPs Avoid Party Primaries

A Democratic Party official in Bukomansimbi district has said that incumbent leaders will not be subjected to primaries for the 2016 elections.

District party Secretary Lawrence Mukasa told supporters at Buyoga, in Kibinge sub-county, that primaries would only financially stretch incumbent leaders to the aantage of their rivals.

The party has MPs Deogratius Kiyingi (Bukomansimbi) and Suzan Namaganda (Woman MP) the LC-V chairman, JEEMA’s Muhammad Kateregga, also enjoys some support within DP.

Mukasa, meanwhile, warned that for any post that requires primaries, the party would not rally behind poor candidates.

“When Kiyingi and Namaganda contested in the previous elections, they fully financed their campaigns and there was no need for the party to solicit funds to help them,” he said.
