Competition in the beverage industry is keeping the makers of soft drinks on their toes, something the industry analysts say is good news for consumers.
Last week, Crown Beverages Limited (CBL) introduced a new brand called Evervess Bitter Lemon despite the fact that the market already has a similar product.
“We are very sure our consumers will love this new variant because the market has been demanding for it,” Mr Jeff Ssekandi, the head of marketing at CBL, said.
He continued: “Everybody has been looking out for a unique drink that is neither sweet nor bitter. And with this, we are targeting consumers who want to stand out and look cool.”
According to Mr Ssekandi, although similar brands already exist, this new variant in the lemon category, needed to be introduced since it was missing in the market.
“Our research indicated the need to increase the choices of our consumers, explaining why we have introduced a drink with a unique, crisp, fresh zesty flavour to capture the distinctive taste of original lemon,” he said.
