As one of the most entertaining sports events come to an end, many had questions as how it would end who would win and which place was best to catch the action? Coca-Cola, one of the official sponsors, tried to recreate the Brazil atmosphere with a public viewing of the final at Hotel Africana. Security personnel were heavily deployed with both ordinary policemen and military police in and around the venue, with some in plain clothes.
Clearly, no one wanted a repeat of the 2010 South Africa World Cup final, which saw about 76 fans die at Kyadondo rugby grounds and Ethiopian Village restaurant in terrorist attacks. Much as some cowered in their homes out of terrorism fears and bad memories, many football lovers turned up in big numbers to catch the game at Africana.
Hundreds were in attendance as Germany beat Argentina 1-0, in a nail-biting game last Sunday. Others even braved it all the way to Namboole, where another organizer defied fear and screened the match live, under heavy security.
The Africana event was ushered in by performances from Coco Finger, Mun G, King Saha, and Cindy.
