Chibuku Sesetula dance contests climax in style

The Chibuku Sesetula dance competitions came to an end with Back to the Roots traditional dance group crowned winners. Back to the Roots qualified for the finals after coming in second position out of the three dance groups that were chosen from Rubaga Division.
The divisional tours of the competitions, which lasted one month, held finals at National Theatre gardens last Friday with eight traditional dance groups competing for the top slot.
The winners performed Bakisimba and Muwogola dance and an original composition song praising Chibuku traditional beer, the sponsors of the competition.
In second position was Tusitukirewamu Dance Troupe, which represented Kawempe Division, with a group from Rubaga Division coming in third place.
The overall winner got a certificate and prizes, including Shs2 million, a set of drums, dance costumes and xylophones all branded by Chibuku. The second group got a prize of Shs1 million and the rest of the items as the first. The third group got a certificate, Shs500,000 and a set of dance costumes.
There was a musical performance from singers Mathias Walukaga and Sophie Nantongo.
