Charity, Tornado B face off in clash of unbeaten sides

Ordinarily in the cricketing sense, any youthful side should be keen and perfect in the fielding aspect. And many would think that it’s one thing that in-form Charity Trust Fund side has banked on for their six-match winning streak in the National Twenty20 League. But alas, it’s a different story line. The youngest side as a unit has dropped an average of four catches in each of the past six clashes. And skipper Jonathan Ssebanja will have more to worry about when his team locks horns with favourites Tornado B in Group A’s table toppers clash at Kyambogo Oval this afternoon.

“The boys are doing relatively well with the bat and ball but our fielding needs improvement,” all-rounder Ssebanja said after last Sunday’s wins over Wanderers and Kutchi Tigers. To show more concern in returning better shifts in the outfield, Charity’s training session at Lugogo on Wednesday mainly focused on taking catches and ground fielding.

“We don’t want to take any chances against Tornado B. They are capable of setting big scores,” said Ssebanja. Also unbeaten in four ties, Tornado B were not impressive in their last two wins over Tigers and Mwiri, something which demands a response from their star cast.“We only need to be more aggressive. Charity cannot thrive under pressure,” said Tornado B captain Jeremy Kibuukamusoke said.
