The Citizens’ Coalition for Electoral Democracy (CCEDU) has flagged off its Votability Caravan programme, to encourage Ugandans to check their particulars in the voters’ register.
CCEDU began its countrywide tour in Bugembe township in Jinja district recently. The caravan will mobilise Ugandans aged 18 and above to actively participate in the on-going national voters’ register update exercise – taking place at every parishward countrywide.
A CCEDU statement said that at Bugembe township, over 600 people from Jinja and nearby areas convened to witness the flag-off. The national voters’ register update exercise aims at registering (for voting purposes) eligible Ugandan citizens of 18 years and above who did not register during the national ID registration exercise.
The exercise will encourage eligible voters to check their voting location and confirm that their particulars appear correctly on the voters’ register at the voting locations of their choice.
