Members of the Busoga Youth Network have criticized Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga for failing to push for tractors and farm inputs they requested from President Museveni.
The youths spoke out on Friday, during a meeting with the vice chairman of the National Youth Council, Moses Kiwanuka, at Kityerera sub-county headquarters in Mayuge district. The group chairman, Musa Kimera, said they wrote to President Museveni sometime back through Kadaga, requesting four tractors and farm inputs like seeds and fertilizers but got no response.
Kiwanuka promised to forward the matter to President Museveni but urged them to support the Kyankwanzi resolution. The group has about 600 members. They grow maize, watermelons and rear cows, goats and sheep, among other income-generating projects.
However, Kadaga told The Observer on Saturday that she was not to blame.
“I get about a million letters a day and handle them accordingly. I forwarded their letter to the president and I am also waiting for his response they did not ask for the tractors from me so, I cannot be blamed,” she said by telephone.
