Bukalasa Student Abducted

A student of Bukalasa agricultural college in Wobulenzi town has been abducted by unknown people, the second to be reported missing in Luweero district in barely a week.

The police said that Rodgers Lwembawo, a diploma candidate in Animal Husbandry, went missing around March 14. News of the abduction comes days after Joan Namazzi, a senior six (S6) student of St Mark Namungoona was kidnapped and killed by unknown assailants, who are still threatening her family.

Lwembawo’s mysterious disappearance has brought panic to fellow students and college administrators. Lwembawo rented a room in Kisaawe zone in Wobulenzi town.

According to Bukalasa Agricultural College Guild President Aloysious Katende, when Lwembawo skipped lectures for a couple of days, his colleagues called his mobile phone which rang but was not answered.

When his friends went to his place of aboard, they found Lwembawo’s phone inside the room, with his other property scattered in a manner that signaled a scuffle. Christine Anyait, the college principal, said they were saddened by the disappearance of their student.

Luweero District Police Commander (DPC) Godfrey Ninsiima said an investigation was ongoing to establish the actual whereabouts of the student.
