Buganda prepares for health day

Masaka. Mengo, the seat of Buganda Kingdom, has lined up a team of 80 health workers to provide free treatment at a medical camp in Buddu County, in the greater Masaka District.
The week-long camp is part of activities ahead of the Buganda Health Day, which is marked on November 29. The medical camp team was announced by the chairperson of the organising committee, Dr Stuart Musisi, who is also Masaka District health officer during the Buddu County extra ordinary council meeting.
The meeting at Ssaza Lukiiko Hall in Masaka on Monday was chaired by the county speaker, Mr Dick Lukyamuzi Ssenyondo.
Dr Musisi said Buganda Health Day, which is to be graced by Kabaka Ronald Mutebi, will be preceded by a week-long free health services beginning November 22.
Special medical camp days will be held in Kalisizo Town in Rakai District on November 27-28 while another will be hosted at Ndagwe in Lwengo District.
Several health service providers have partnered with Buganda. These include Maries Stoppes, Uganda Cares, Kitovu Mobile and Taso Uganda.
There will be HIVAIDS testing, counseling and safe male circumcision.
