Bubulo West by-election was rigged- CCEDU

MANAFWA- Citizens Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda [CCEDU] says that the just concluded Bubulo West by-election was rigged. According to CCEDU the by –election marred by low voter turn up, wondering where more votes came from, saying in all polling stations they had poor voter turn up .

CCEDU said , according to the report they have received from their observers in all 15 sub counties indicates that the voter turn was poor in every polling stations, wondering where Ms Rose Masaba Mutonyi got those votes.

Ms Faridah Lule,who lead the team of CCEDU during Bubulo west by elections, says the election was not free and fair as it required. She accuses the electoral commission for failing to level the ground for every candidate.

She said there is no way, Ms Mutonyi could poll such big number of votes and yet the election was marred by low voter turn up.“Those Bubulo west by election was rigged. Because by midday most of the polling stations had registered less than 30 voters who had casted their votes, said Ms Lule.

She said the election was not free and fair as the electoral commission claimed earlier saying it was marred by voter bribery, heavy deployment and intimidation.

Ms Lule accused the electoral commission for failing to conduct free and fair elections in all elections across the country, adding, that most of the time electoral commission favor only NRM candidates.

Mrs Rose Masaba Mutonyi got 29,135 votes an 83.5 percent of votes cast followed by the Forum FDC candidate Ahamadah Wakhweya who got 3,270 votes with Joseph Masolo Bufwambu (Independent) trailing in third position with 1,684 votes.Paul Butita of DP collected 662 votes while Emma Mwiyikinwa who stood on an Independent ticket polled a miserable 128 votes. He however said that he does not accept the outcomes of the elections citing that there was mass rigging.
